It seems that Oscar Wilde war right about getting everything you wished for. (it’s the only thing worse than not getting anything you wanted)
In spite of the appearance of being pacified for which some shills work very hard indeed, this story made “best of” recently
At some point you just say you are done. And I am at that point.
it recounts a simple moving personal story and ends with
My own issues are but are a small thing really, I know that. From gay folks wanting DADT repealed to folks fighting for single payer, from our homeless friends wanting something to change to help them to others like me unemployed with personal issues that are eating away at them – where is our help, our bailout?
and then
You want my vote? Then do what I put you in office to do. If you are not going to that, then screw you.
It’s surprising how many agree – in spite of a few shills who bring in loyalty and such. There are even posts like this one
37.Β I too have crossed that mysterious invisible line.
I am done.I am leaving.
I recommend anyone that has the ability to get the fuck off this sinking ship.
From someone who has been miserable to PUMAs in the past, on an ugly, personal level.
And today – on Free Speech TV, Thom Hartman has according to this read the post on the air.
The thread about that is number one – although I suspect, part of it is the thrill of exposure. But now that it has ‘celebrity status” there’s nothing but praise for the original post.
It should be noted that the illustration for this post also comes from B0botland. It’s sourced here:Houston Chronicle
My reaction to them?
I was at the point you reached two years ago. I was called a racist for it. By you, amongst others.
You won’t be able to create any change until you own what you did. Admit your part in this, then change.
Don’t be so gullible, damn it. And to those issues, add women too – who get shafted without any of you giving a damn.

I give you credit for being willing to venture into that misogynist hell-hole. I simply won’t do it again.
But don’t hold oyur breath waiting for the Bobots to admit they effed up our chance at real reform. Those basement blog-effers are still living off their mommy and daddy’s cheetos. They have no reason to grow up.

I have to admit to having some measure of satisfaction lately when I browse headlines. I wasn’t able to go near the thing after I left and through most of 2009.

I think this is a very, very hopeful story, EOF. Check in with us tomorrow. I’ll have something I think you’ll like.

I feel these wake-ups are one step forward – 3/4 of a step back. It’s not happening as fast as one would have hoped – or even as fast it should – and it doesn’t seem to lead to anything. Maybe I’m just in a mood today: bitter.

Under no circumstance do I go to the “R”. And I won’t stay home either. If there’s not an “I”, I can always write someone in.

Ditto
I may or may not be able to vote for a D, but that doesn’t make the R’s any more appealing.
DU’s a fun place to watch now. You can almost clock the acceleration of Obama’s plummet to the rocks. π
The hard-core shrill shills (or paid operatives) are scared shitless. You can see it in the way they attack now. Diversions aren’t working, and although they get an A+ for effort, scapegoating just doesn’t have the same kick that it had several months ago. So it’s all personal, and they’re going for the jugular. It’s actually fascinating to watch them all roll into a thread and try to set up the dessenters for banning.

The Rs own this Obama-made mess as much as the Ds.
Remember lots of Rs could not even bother to come out to vote for McCain in order to keep Obama out of the White House. And remember how many of those Republicans crossed over in the primaries just to vote for Obama over Hillary?
A plague o’ both your houses! (apologies to Shakespeare)

CJ, I am totally convinced that they are “Paid” (O-Bought) shills.
Obama and his campaigns have a proven history of that.
(Rock, Beer and I-pods anyone?)
They are even still able to muster one or two “concern trolls” who are so obvious now when they start popping up to hi-jack discussion threads that are ripping the great HObama!

That was an excellent description of the shills activity/status now. They should get hazardous conditions increase. The sheep are restless.

It’s inevitable that they wake up however, they aren’t mentioning how as long as it was “other” people getting their voting rights taken away it was all hunky dory with them. Women’s rights or speaking out against misogyny are not even on their radar. Had there been any effort on their part to look at who Obama really was they would have seen this coming but, the climate of fear that surrounded that campaign made it very difficult to speak out. WE did that and now some of them are too. It’s not from any moral center that I can see…if it had been they’d have said something long ago about the way he ran that campaign and many, many other things too. DU used to be a refuge in the GWB years…then it just became a little cult hive…maybe it always was that way and I didn’t see it until 2007/08.
I’ll be voting third party for a very long time.

“Womenβs rights or speaking out against misogyny are not even on their radar. ”
That’s my real proof that they didn’t really change.
You’re right. They used to be a refuge – in fact, DU came into being after the 2000 election theft.
It came full circle when someone equated our protest in DC against the RBC ruling with the “burgeois revolution” – Tom Delay’s goons stopping the vote count in Miami Dade. That’s when I officially left

Those creeps own the 0bama mess — but I suspect most like him have no core values — except that they are proven misogynists.
But the 0bambam machine is still trying — LA Times has an article “Obama’s Fight Against Secrecy.” The title was good for a laugh — but I’m not going to read a Stenographer’s article.

yikes, I have read about all of DU I can stand for awhile. Someone should trace Tabatha and see where she is commenting from. I am guessing 1600 Penn Ave.

Well, I actually hit DU for the first time in about 2 years….It took Edge to get me there!
Seriously, I keep saying to my mother that this is no country anymore…
It’s a sham.
