Apparently, ABC asked her this morning about Palin’s contention that Obama messed up

SPOILER ALERT: Clinton declines to answer.

Caroline Kennedy gives an interview to Tom Brokaw about her excellent adventures in picking the man who slandered Anita Hill for VP

The discussion inevitably turns to Hillary and Brokaw is trying to give Caroline an out

MR. BROKAW:  Three weeks ago when I interviewed Senator Obama in London, I asked him about Hillary Clinton as a prospective vice presidential candidate, and he said of course she is.  There’s been a fair amount of confusion since then about whether in fact she was ever taken seriously.  Her people are saying she was never vetted, and now there’s a report today that she says she didn’t want to be vetted unless she was going to be chosen. (IACF)

Caroline wasn’t smart enough to pick the life line but instead went on babbling:

MS. KENNEDY:  Well, I’m not–you know, I don’t know all about that.  But I can tell you she is obviously serious candidate, tremendous groundbreaking figure.  Everybody admires her greatly.  I’m confident, and she’s already been out there campaigning for Senator Obama.  She–he is going to need her in the Senate.  You know, she ran a fantastic campaign.  I’m a huge admirer of hers. So, so I think it will be great all around.

Umm, all right Pollyanna – as long as Obama’s needs are being met, what else can go wrong? I mean, except for the first time in history a negative bump following a VP pick?

Nice job, dear. Go play somewhere else now. Run along.

You can fade in the woodwork now, your family name isn’t useful as this juncture.

Paging Ron Reagan!

yes, it is at best Ironic to see these words from Kristol:

So Hillary Clinton gets about 18 million votes in 2008, and isn’t even considered for–she apparently isn’t even given the courtesy of being consulted–the vice presidential pick. Joe Biden manages to persuade a few thousand (if that) Iowans to support him. And Barack Obama selects Biden? Normally, if the VP pick came from that year’s presidential field, it’s the runner-up (Kerry-Edwards in 2004, Reagan-Bush in 1980, Stevenson-Kefauver in 1956). (Lyndon Johnson in 1960 hadn’t entered the primaries.) And Biden wasn’t even the third most successful candidate this year (hi, John Edwards!), or fourth (Bill Richardson, I suppose), or fifth (Dennis Kucinich!).

They are good words – but they are coming from the guy who famously said:

“White women are a problem”

In their plan of getting rid of the strongest candidate. But now he feels he can say

What’s more, Biden and Hillary have basically comparable foreign policy “experience” (such as it is in either case). Nor is Biden clearly more knowledgeable in foreign affairs than Hillary. And they have pretty similar foreign policy views. So no advantage to Biden there. And, unlike Jack Reed, for example, Biden didn’t serve in the military. So no advantage over Hillary there.

Will the Democratic party, which is committed (to say the least) to gender equity, and which in fact has a 50 percent quota for female delegates, accept Obama’s imposition of a glass ceiling at its convention?

And of course, he shows his hand when he proposes that

Hillary’s name should be placed in nomination not for the presidency (Obama won that more or less fair and square)–but for the vice presidency. It would be an interesting roll call vote.

Nice try, Bill. No sale.

After playing the “I know something you don’t know” kid for a few days, it was time for some petty vindictiveness.

It has became known that the long awaited messages – which didn’t all arrive at the same time were sent out at 3 AM – as a big FU to Hillary’s famous 3 AM ad

Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on . Spread the word!

ETA: Message received 3:06am 8/23/08

To make the operation more pathetic, after the days of a thousand hoaxes the info has been leaked to the news over 2 hours before that, making Obama’s texting BFFs the last to find out. “Spread the word” indeed!

I hear that Obots are trying – hard to come to terms with this fact:

“sure it may have been leaked, but it wasn’t “official” until the text message was sent out”

At the orange cheeto, someone blames the media for ruining the surprise….

Sure. On the bright side, your phone number is theirs now. keep it charged for all the propaganda messages you’ll have to check every day.

Does Obama REALLY want to remind us of the 3 AM call? because his – the Russian war – came in the middle of the day and he responded something like this

For a whole week!

As for Biden? As everyone collects their favorite quotes, here’s mine, from 2005 :

Senator tells Europe to “Get over it.”

“I have one
simple message: Get over it. Get over it. President Bush is our
president for the next four years. So get over it and start to act in
your interest, Europe.”……….

And for fun, here’s what an old B0bot post on a forum looks like – with the new signature and all:

And on a lighter note

Sen. Joseph Biden: [ banging gavel ] Gentlemen! Gentlemen, please! Please! Professor Hill, I want to thank you for your.. patience here today. You’ve shown remarkable courage throughout your testimony. It couldn’t have been easy for you – or any of us – to sit here for the last seven hours and talk about penis size, or large-breasted women having sex with animals, or pubic hairs on soft drink cans, or oral sex, or the black man’s sexual prowess, or large-breasted women having sex with animals. But we appreciate your candor. [ rest of committee shake their heads and smile ] And we, uh.. hope we can reschedule you for another session tomorrow.

And for you, hopey/changey bots –  scratch the “change” from the whole deal, per AP

A senior Obama adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity, said his boss has expressed impatience with what he calls a “reverence” inside his campaign for his message of change and new politics. In other words, Obama is willing — even eager — to risk what got him this far if it gets him to the White House.

More on the scooping of the news by the media – seems B0 scooped his supporters too:

Bertram said it took about 15 minutes for the bulk of the messages to get through the system. Meanwhile, the campaign posted the veep choice on its Web site.

“For Obama supporters, this is like finding out from your neighbor instead of your sister that she’s engaged – not how you want or expect the news to be delivered,” Silberman said.

Of course the fact that mcCain launched his “passed over” ad al 3 AM next morning belongs here too

Someone at No Quarter posted the perfect analogy for this travesty – the kid from A Christmas Story getting his coded message:

” A crummy commercial? Son of a Bitch!”
