It was those “Palin/anti-choice/PUMAs who hijacked NOW presidential elections last June, or so the blogosphere would have us believe.

. But it does mean that the Palin supporters are still angry that NOW and Kim Gandy did so much to elect Barack Obama. But, why would Republican Palin supporters care about NOW? Unless, of course, they’re really just PUMAS

Wow! If we buy that, NOW is now anti-choice then, right? Since PUMA is for Palin and Palin is anti-choice, they could only have elected an anti-choice President for NOW.

And this would be very easy to come to light after Obama’s bestest speech evah in which he declared

And one more misunderstanding I want to clear up – under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.”

All the Palin/PUMA stooge had to do was to applaud Obama on this.

Or, if she wanted to blend in, just follow NARAL, Planned Parenthood, MS in their total silence on this.

But somehow, this representative of status quo (because she was old and white instead of young and black) did the unexpected: stood up for women’s rights to chose

NOW categorically rejects President Obama’s promise to retain current “conscience refusal” laws, as stated last night. So-called conscience exemptions or refusals that allow health care providers — physicians, nurses, clinics, pharmacies hospitals and even profit-driven insurance companies — to refuse to provide any service that they claim offends their personal beliefs are untenable. Every woman in this country has a fundamental human right to the full range of reproductive health services, including a constitutional right to choose abortion.

Not only that, but they endorsed the unpleasant-we-don’t-talk about-it single payer plan.

Damn those white old women, acting up again!

I missed that takeover election, only read about it. But yesterday, after reading this account

I had joined NOW.

After days and days of furor directed at the Letterman jokes, NOW finally decided it was time to say something.

And they said it well, to be sure, covering the kids aspect, the way Chelsea Clinton was treated, how political sides are no excuse for demeaning of women. They even said

Letterman also joked about what he called Palin’s “slutty flight attendant look” — yet another example of how the media love to focus on a woman politician’s appearance, especially as it relates to her sexual appeal to men.

Which is wonderful – and very, very, very late.

Where were you when they were calling Hillary names? I only remember the post-portem

“NOW’s president, Kim Gandy, said her members would remain alert: “We’re going to keep watching because we think Michelle Obama will be the recipient of the same kind of attacks that Hillary was.”

Thank God you remained vigilent on Michelle while declaring Palin was not a woman

Gov. Palin may be the second woman vice-presidential candidate on a major party ticket, but she is not the right woman.

So, you may imagine why Dave got a bit confused about all the mixed messages. Maybe he understood from you and all the other “feminists” that Palin was a dude, therefore offense-proof. Maybe he thought that now a days , that’s what a feminist looks like

and not them objects with skirts and slutty looks…

That being said, we hope that you’ll be able to stay awake long enough to see sexism and misogyny even when coming from Teh One.

I am still waiting for your reaction on his defense of the women’s right to wear a hijab?

Or the one about Obama not asking Sotomayor about her position on choice rights?

It would be nice if NOW could actually respond to events as they happen – not a week later – as in this case. (NOW, not later)

Still, your taking on Letterman was the bravest thing you did in a long, long time.

Let’s see you actually speaking truth to power next time, and maybe your credibility may start being restored.

Or better yet, as the Reclusive Leftist recommends, change their leadership

When Kim Gandy endorsed Obama just after a woman was named VP on the other sode, her attacks on the woman were so shrill, that even Steven Colbert had to notice

The Colbert Report: Sarah Palin is a Dude

POSTED BY: TheInDecider

The National Organization for Women President Kim Gandy announces which candidate they’re endorsing, and to Stephen’s surprise, it’s not Sarah Palin.

If NOW is for women, and they’re not supporting Palin, it must mean she has junk downtown. Is Stephen the only one shocked that NOW isn’t supporting Palin?

What surprised me however in looking at that endorsement was the contention that they supported Hillary in the primary.

I have not noticed NOW at all in the primaries – and I looked…When the “cunts” and the “bitches” and the legs crossing were on the airwaves, I don’t remember a Kim Gandy

The first time I even heard of Gandy’s name was after the primaries

when PUMAs brought up the sexism, she finally spoke up:

“NOW’s president, Kim Gandy, said her members would remain alert: “We’re going to keep watching because we think Michelle Obama will be the recipient of the same kind of attacks that Hillary was.”

In the year when two women run for the highest office in this country, NOW distinguished itself in one way: being fodder for great jokes.

Take for instance

by myiq2xu at the Confluence:

change the name of the organization to “LATER” which stands for “Ladies After True Equal Rights.”  Just imagine the chants at tea parties:

What do we want?

When will we get them?

And for ll this work on behalf of…herself, Kim wants payback. She wants to be Director of
the Women’s Bureau in the Department of Labor.
(I guess she wasn’t all that successful with the creation of a cabinet level post for herself)
I have been saving this graphic wondering if I’ll ever have cause to post it – but for Gandy’s audacity in betraying all women and going for the reward, I am instituting the WOMEN ARE DICKS AWARD . Congratulations, Kim Gandy – you are the first recipient

Since this post is getting a lot of traffic – I don’t know where from, I want to say that since Terry O’Neill, I am a NOW member once again and have high hopes for its direction.

The offending graphic stays as it represents my feelings about women who jump on another woman – feminist or not – with sexist attacks, monkeying the men they are trying to ingratiate themselves to.

After being silent all through the primaries, endorsed the guy over the woman candidate, only noticed sexism when others brought it up, declared Palin was not a woman as she held different views, NOW is starting to notice that the misogynist candidate they betrayed their goals and constituency for is not all that

Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization of Women, told that women nationwide had expected a more gender-balanced Cabinet.

Expected, huh? Like what in Obama’s campaign demeanor entitled thm to that?

“It’s true that even with the addition of Solis — who is excellent — there are still only three women who head departments and five women overall in the administration,” said Gandy. “That’s a lot of men.”

“All of the women who supported President-elect Obama and Vice President Joe Biden believe that they are supporters of women’s rights and had hoped for and expected some more tangible evidence of that in the Cabinet picks,” said Gandy.

Interestingly enough, Warren’s pick is only resented by the gay community, but Gandy and NOW still miss the bus on Warren’s anti choice, anti-women views. Once again, they let us unrepresented.

And then of course, we have all the men that find virtue in this

Ted Sorensen, a longtime supporter of Obama’s, said that he does not think the President-elect has any false hopes of appeasing everyone.

“Of course Obama is open to lots of different perspectives, but he doesn’t strike me as the kind of man who tries to please everyone,” said Sorensen.

Yeah, Ted. It’s all nice and good as long as you feel privileged. But just between you and I, you won’t be on his pleasing list either. Not even sure if there’s room there for the immediate family.

If NOW ignored the effect of Warren on women, at least these people didn’t in their “draft of the invocation”

Bless the women, who have chosen to follow their ambitions into public life, but change the hearts, Lord, of Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton, Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano, United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice, and Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis from independent lives of their own to submission to their husbands, if any, for I love the King James Version’s rendition of Ephesians 5:22 “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands” and of course “Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ if God.” 1 Corinthians 11:3. These women have chosen to participate in the public life of the community. Enlighten them as to the requirement that women not speak in church, saving any questions they have about their common life to ask their husbands as they return home.
