Groundhog Day: East Village Murray sees his shadow
which means 6 more weeks of winter. Punxutawney Phil didn’t see his. Last year they were at odds too – on opposite sides. Murray was proven right. We’ll see.

The photo is coming upside down no matter what I do. I took it with my I-pad with a drunk yelling at me “whatcha putting on the ground?”

Update: and Phil has been outed

Excuses, excuses…

A very excited Murray got out from under the bed and went up on the roof to look for his shadow. There was a bit of peeking sun through the clouds but not enough for  a shade. So as of our official 9:AM east Village winter checking time, there will NOT be six more weeks of winter.

According to how today looks, I may update this later in the day.

Ending with the salutation of the day: don’t drive angry!

Update one: this headline in Daily News

Groundhog Day 2012: Punxsutawney Phil sees shadow – but Staten Island Chuck doesn’t

Seems the Woodstock Illinois Willie also saw nothing.

He emerged from under the bed and checked out the weather on the roof.

No shadow in sight!

and  the candlemas rhyme clearly says

If Candlemas Day is bright and clear,
There’ll be two winters in the year.

f Candlemas brings clouds and rain,
Winter will not come again.

Well, I’ll take it!

Especially as, Punxsutawney Phil concurs!.
