It’s been some time now that this blog has been exposing the phony partisan fight masking a corporatist identity of interest between the two parties.

Last night I was shocked to find insight from the other aisle, non other than loony libertarian Ron Paul who, like a broken clock is right twice a day

Add this one to his insight on the war

Ron Paul: President Obama Is Not A Socialist

and he continues to make sense

“The question has been raised about whether or not our president is a socialist,” Paul said. “I am sure there are some people here who believe it. But in the technical sense, in the economic definition of a what a socialist is, no, he’s not a socialist.”

“He’s a corporatist,” Paul continued. “And unfortunately we have corporatists inside the Republican party and that means you take care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country.”

Apparently, the Romneycare was clear enough for him too

Paul said examples of President Obama’s “corporatism” were evident in the heath care reform bill he signed into law last month. He said the mandate in the bill put the power over health care in the hands of corporations rather than private citizens

Personally, I find it scary when Ron Paul makes sense to me. But the shock continues when I see reason in B0botland.

Now, for some time, this blog made the case that the narrative in the media today makes it seem that there’s an Obama vs Tea party only conflict.

When they poll about Tea parties you only have 2 choices: Do you support Obama or the tea party?

Any opposition from the progressive side is rendered invisible, the other is ramped up and dumbed down.

And today, in B0botland, I see this headline

Anyone else feel that the Tea Party is a dangerous distraction?

there is still plenty to be wary and to be critical of Obama, and I fear that by giving the spotlight to the Teabaggers, it makes Obama critics in general look like a bunch of racist shitbag idiots, when in reality, there are plenty of intelligent, rational people who are critical of Obama’s policies.

Plus, the Owners and the Elite in this nation are still waging their war on the lower classes. I think they want us to fight each other, part of their “Divide and Conquer” strategy.

Not everyone gets the reason. Some still labor under the impression that the media is an arm of the GOP (I thought that too until the 2008 election)

actually yes, but

I see a different angle, one that lets so called “moderate” GOP look reasonable, saying “look, we don;t like those teabag guys.” You see Joe Scab and Elizabeth Hasselbeck do it all the time. Of course, this lets them put in the meme that the GOP actually does not stand for the Teabaggers, when those of us with a memory realize they have usually embraced them, especially when W. was president.

But some, truly, deeply get it

7. The Tea Baggers are a set up. To distract, just as you suggest.

I am getting close to being sixty years old and never in my life have I known the M$M to mention any crowds or mobs of people before, except to tear them down.

Millions of people have appeared on the streets to show their fierce opposition to the various wars that we have had. Rarely does this give the protesters even five minutes of recognition on the nightly news.

But let 1,500 Tea Baggers show up somewhere, and the media spends the whole day following them and discussing what they said, and letting their various speakers have the podium. In our living rooms, on our TV’s.

So yes, this is all part of the Kabuki Theater, and it is necesary because since Obama turned out to be under CorpoRATe Control, more and more people are realizing that our Two Party Circus (Ooops, meant System) needs to be revamped so that we have real representation.

The Powers that Be do not want to be revamped, so the Tea Bagger strategy will continue to be employed and to be used against all of us.

Yes, they get it. And double get it

10. Absolutely! And it keeps pushing us to the right

The very real concerns about policy with the administration get lost in the shuffle of trying to beat back the idiotic crap from the teabaggers. It serves a very real purpose of making ‘centrist’ and center right policies look moderate and aids and abets the further push to the right by both parties.

I do feel a little better now. Even if I am back to the “lost in the fog – calling all ships” state I have been during the Bush times.

But at least, I am aware that there are more ships out there.

Even though, as Wonk the Vote wrote at the Confluence

“Obama voters who have grown wary of the Oministration tend to fancy their “constructive” input as the nice to our naughty. They qualify their criticisms, insisting that they do not regret their votes, openly signaling that they will come crawling back in 2012.”

The rest of the left can elevate themselves above us shrill Hillary harpies all they want. The Dem elites couldn’t care less about who defects and who doesn’t, as long as enough of the base doesn’t even consider it an option.

But at least they KNOW. I’ll just take comfort in that today.

Some interesting points on this were made on this at the Confluence

The Tea Party started as a populist opposition to the bailouts, Wall Street. It was only when it degenerated, was co-opted by GOP and muddled that it started to get the big media attention.

The same thing that happened on the other side with the anti-war movement and Ramsey Clark’s IAC (the only way we’d get on TV is if the speakers wore PLO scarves). Which seems to confirm what I read on B0notland and quoted above

I am getting close to being sixty years old and never in my life have I known the M$M to mention any crowds or mobs of people before, except to tear them down.

Having occurred just as publication time, yesterday morning, the airplane crash killing the Polish president only gets in the print news today’

Here’s Stars and Stripes with a scene in front of his residence

.and Obama Times with a Warsaw gathering

.WaPo could only come up wit a map of the crash site- those foreign bureau cuts are showing

.Even NY Post was able to do better, scoring the photo of the crashed jet

while the Daily News is providing a mere big lettered headline, sharing space with Tiger Woods

The only non-polish headline that I found interesting this morning is in the Boston herald which reports how IRS hogged 92 million from the stimulus for a nice new office – I bet they knew – stimulus time – they’ll be working for health insurance CEOs now
