Finally someone gets fired for what’s going wrong in this country!
It was her order that prompted a rare statement of support from U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, the very night the Central Falls school Board of Trustees voted 5 to 2 to terminate 93 teachers, support staff and administrators at the city’s only high school.
“I applaud Commissioner Gist and Superintendent [Frances] Gallo for showing courage and doing the right thing for kids,” Duncan said.
Yeay! And you think Obama was far behind with the applause? Think again
Obama Agrees With Firings At RI’s Central Falls HS
President Barack Obama says a Rhode Island school that recently fired its principal and all its teachers is an example of how there needs to be accountability.
He made the comments Monday in Washington at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He called for “accountability” if a school continually fails its students without improvement. “If a school continues to fail its students year after year after year, if it doesn’t show signs of improvement, then there’s got to be a sense of accountability.”
Accountability? Where did we fail to hear that word before? Did anyone on Wall Street loose their job for the crisis they created? Bush’s torturers or those who started wars for lies? Anyone in government, congress for breaking all promises to the voters? Nope. Not them, silly! But don’t worry, because
Mr. Obama has some REAL accountability in mind for which there is ample bipartisan support: he and the Oligarchs want to fire the principals and teachers in America’s poorest public schools for not solving the poverty problem that American corporations and government continue to ignore
And to the Teachers Union response
“We know it is tempting for people in Washington to score political points by scapegoating teachers, but it does nothing to give our students and teachers the tools they need to succeed,” AFT President Randi Weingarten said.
the damage control spin is
Obama offers cash for turnaround schools
yeah, let’s turn education into a for profit venture, it went so well with healthcare!
Mr. Obama said his administration will dole out $900 million in “turnaround grants” to fledgling schools that take radical steps to improve as part of an effort to ensure the U.S. turns out the highest proportion of high-school graduates in the world by 2020.
The union busting measure brings to mind the bailout and UAW
I wouldn’t vote for this guy again if someone gave me $100 bucks.
I’m serious. Bush could’ve never cracked the edifice of public education and social security. You need a Democrat to get away with that job.
How about 150?
39. Obama: Union teachers need to be accountable. Wall Street bankers, not so much.
107. War criminals protected by Obama, bankers protected by Obama,
teachers – not so much. Interesting priorities that are nowhere close to mine. WTF.

4. Hardly
Obama and Duncan DESPISE public education, being both privileged kids who attended private schools.Supporting public education is a DEMOCRATIC stance; hell, it is an AMERICAN stance.
Neoliberalism has NO place in public education.
9. “…there’s got to be a sense of accountability.” LOL. Not much of a President, but
he does say funny things sometimes..
then we have this irony overload
41. The more I see of Barack Obama
the more I love Hillary Clinton
Yup. She was for scrapping No Child Left Behind too. But you were busy chanting “Hope and Change”..

Stars and stripes informs us that for all the two wars he is running, the Nobel peace prize laureate still has W’s (Gates’) Pentagon (promises be damned)
Washington Post is once again fluffing Rahm Emanuel (“Dems wish Obama listened to him more”)
Moonie Times once again proves itself more of a paper than Wapo.
Today it writes about the karmic effects of using the 14 Amendment in court case for gun rights – now courts may have to consider women, gays equal too
An attorney who won a landmark case overturning the District’s handgun ban has rankled conservatives who say a Second Amendment case he will argue Tuesday before the U.S. Supreme Court could be fodder for liberal judges to mandate constitutional guarantees for gay marriage, abortion rights or government-provided health care.
It also brings up Obama’s giddiness at teachers’ firings and damage control
In California voters seem to have choices – Jerry Brown declared his candidacy for Governor
In Texas voters seem to have a say as well
In New York, Obama Times and the followers keep ragging on the Governor. Until now, we were supposed to be shocked Paterson made a call, now we should be even more shocked he directed aides to make that call

.And as promised, for perspective: why is that phone call so important? because last September he got an offer he couldn’t refuse, but did
The one good electoral news – Harold Ford not running – didn’t make the first page. Poor Harold!
And for those who missed the real reason he quit
One great bit, and a reason it’s now so dangerous to do private polling: The poll reportedly test voters’ responses to “a Wall Street executive who has not disclosed his bonus.”..
