Fresh on the heels of the crime of posting “your daughters are lesser than his” posters comes an even more serious crime: posting Obama as The Joker posters. (an arrest has been made)
This may have somthing to do with the furor too
Mind you, the crime is not yet on the books, so after arresting their “suspect” and getting a confession, some brainpower has to be harnessed to provide a legal basis for it
City officials are still determining how much damage the evil Obama as Joker poster has caused hapless victims in Florida. An earlier television report featured citizens complaining how the poster is insensitive to the president and violated their sense of propriety.
“City officials, meanwhile, are trying to determine what local crimes might be associated with the posting of the images on public and private properties,” the newspaper continues.
even trying to make a federal case out of it
A pair of the posters were pasted to a Clermont Post Office collection box. They prompted the postmaster to contact the Postal Inspector’s office, which is looking at potential federal crimes for defacing federal property.
Quips Infowars which also has a Bush as Joker poster for download
No word if the police in Clermont are also taking down fliers and posters for garage sales, lost puppies, and make money at home schemes.
There’s a principle in modern law – after the Middle Ages – laws cannot be retroactive – especially the punitive aspects of it – for the obvious reason that we need to know something is illegal before being punished for it. (The same reason laws are nowadays public and not secret). But this principle pales in conflict with the ” B0bot’s sense of propriety”
I confess I am not too surprised about this Orwellian development. I still remember when- during the campaign, a hotel was forced to take down a McCain sign because ‘it offended the neighborhood”
That poster surely did hit a raw nerve.
I am happy to have found version without the silly “Socialist” on it.
I am also trying to figure out why so good.
I saw the Bush poster offered by Infowars – it’s disturbing, but in an over the top way.
Obama’s poster is chilling in a “can’t get it out of my mind kind of way”
I think – the obvious reason – it’s the white face. Probably the best answer to the over the top/for any criticism racism accusations – as – so far – I didn’t see any associated with this particular poster.
But there’s another, more effect element – as a commentator at The Confluence remarked: it’s the total lack of affect that the clown face illuminates – it’s an all too revealing mask of the cold, calculated player we all know Obama to be.
It is chilling to us.
Even to those who don’t want to admit it just yet. So, instead, they demand the arrest of those putting the poster – for crimes yet to be determined.
