Gallup is now doing for Obama the slight of hand it used to do for W: reporting dips only in the context of increases.
The title of this is “approval went up – bestest speech worked” – but it’s the subtitle that caught my attention
Had dropped to 59% prior to his Tuesday congressional address
because I did an entry just that day and the number “59” was nowhere to be seen in that report.
The headline for that hidden 59% approval?
Receives solid approval, but not extraordinary in historical terms
The only relevant number I remember from that old report was “dipped by 5 points” – which would lead one to think it was 63 not 59…. Nice try, Gallup. You were wildly successful with W too.
Update
More on what they are doing with those numbers from myiq2xu at the Confluence:

It’s tough for these state-sponsored organizations to keep coming up with a positive spin on all things Obama. How’d you like to be the poor sap that has to keep thinking up ways to lie about the results? I’ll bet they’ll need to call little Jonny Favreau away from his cardboard cutouts to start writing stuff soon! Or maybe they can just hire the people that used to work for Pravda.

I think our Tea Party friends will be knocking a few points off PBO’s approval in the coming months. Good coverage on Fox shows people are waking up, and it was nice of them to point out these were Dems and Pubs in the groups.

If he had put Universal Health Care as part of his recovery, instead of passing all the pork it could be a different picture and I would be out defending him. In England, after the WWII the put Universal Health Care in as part of the recover program to motivate the people that had give so much and lost so much.
We give and give (we give to other countries and to porkers) and it all goes to ‘their’ friends and we don’t have Universal Health Care? I pay too much in taxes and don’t see the benefit.
I also think Obama needs to give up on grabbing any money from social security and medicare.

There is the phrase “dying god” that came out of Western philosophy, beginning with the ancient Greeks and their stream of gods regularly deposed by new deities. Even Christian religion followed suit with the idea. Obama has set himself up as a “Messiah”. I wonder if he knows about the dying god concept, whether literal or metaphorical?

Oh, yours wasn’t plagiarizing, but complementing it. I haven’t seen your post – I’ll include it in the update.

No worries, you are occupying the same wave length, in the cluster that is a living mind, via the internet, a cog in the wheel of awareness.
etc., etc., etc., besides, you don’t have all the cute smiles that edgeofforever uses and her humor is one of a kind…leaves me in stitches every time I visit.
