As the Clinton derangement syndrome is out again, that moment in history just popped back into my mind.

It was the end of the year 2000, with the election stolen fair and square as high level Republicans were chuckling amongst themselves.

I never quite figured out if W was extremely naive or amazingly cynical when he made the headline remark to a Norwegian diplomat.

“I won against peace and prosperity”

Disbelief? Clarity of goals?

In any case, the moment sums up perfectly the war that has been going on in the 90s – and is not quite over.

For those of you needing a more thorough history lesson, go to Riverdaughter’s post at the Confluence.

When she takes to school a CDS aflicted B0bot she explains it all

Essentially what happened was that a young, charismatic governor and his brilliant wife came upon DC like gangbusters and got their asses handed to them by the Villagers.  They had high-faloutin’ hopes for healthcare reform and equality for gay soldiers and open-minded Supreme Court justices and an administration that looked like America.  And they got trashed for that.

So, W (aka the Villagers) “won” against peace and prosperity….

And in 2008, they fought the war again, and “won” the same way.

And now, some of those winners are mighty sore.

I thought the title would do justice to Murdoch’s rag which does with the subject what they do best, with only a spec of truth to the bottom, where only women will check

But Newsday actually appropriately captures the news of the day.

Notably the Daily News cover – which is like the NBC of the tabloids- is silent on the topic

It seems the moratorium on CDS is over. All it takes is that one first shot to be fired in the air, and they are back to the old habits.

After Sirota’s outburst, here comes the predictable Dick Morris who must have chaffed at the restriction.

I cannot even assess the veracity of any of the “facts” he mentions, because, duh, Dick Morris?

The Biden portion of his theory just got shaken though. How can one take over foreign policy while openly derided?

“You know, I don’t remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly.”

Not surprisingly??? So basically, to save himself, Barack Obama just made Vice President out to be a laughing stock.

But I did notice that Joshua Marshall follows the stampede with an “he might be a dick, but I like what he says”

There’ll be probably more of this. And after reading Sitota’s unraveling, I understand why.

With headlines like this one

Stocks Slide as New Bailout Disappoints

.they must be all wondering: “why did we ever push for this guy?”

And there can be only one answer:

Just so she wouldn’t get it!

Just as I predicted, the floodgates opened. Cannonfire informs us that Paglia is back at it as well.
