This one is an addition to my Schadenfreude list – and I have to give it the full original title
Deanies are up in arms:
The conspicuous absence of Howard Dean from Thursday’s press conference announcing Tim Kaine’s appointment as Democratic National Committee chair was no accident, according to Dean loyalists.
Which actually reminds me of a funny thing during the primary – a reason to oppose “evil Hillary”:
“She would get rid of Dean”
Indeed, Obama said he’d keep him, didn’t he? Whatever happened to that?
Although Barack Obama’s recent decision to keep Howard Dean as the DNC chair was minor news at best, I think it’s much more important than the media has made it seem. I think the foreshadowing is undeniable; this will tell us a lot about what a potential Obama presidency would be like. Here are some things that jump out at me: Obama did not install one of his cronies, which would be a huge change over past Presidencies.
Oh, well, that was way back in June. Today we have:
Rather, they say, it was a reflection of the lack of respect accorded to the outgoing party chairman by the Obama team.
Indeed, when President-elect Barack Obama introduced Kaine at party headquarters Thursday afternoon, Dean was 7,023 miles and seven time zones away, closer to French Polynesia than Washington, doing party grunt work in American Samoa.
His allies aren’t happy about it.
That’s OK, I have been unhappy about his allies for years now. So let’s savor some more:
“If he had been asked to go to that event, he would have been there,” Jim Dean, the chairman’s brother, noted twice in an interview.
Dean’s reward for the party recapturing the White House, House, Senate, and taking control of seven governor’s mansions and eight state legislatures on his watch?
So far, nothing.
And then, there’s this delicious quote
“If we can forgive Joe Lieberman for actively campaigning against Obama, this seems crazy to me. And Hillary Clinton did ok and lots of her people are getting plum assignments,” noted the ally. “I really think he has rehabilitated himself. He showed he can be team player. It just seems so odd and I don’t know what the reasons are.”
A fourth Dean admirer found some gallows humor in the doctor’s disappearing act: “He said he wanted to be in the cabinet,” joked this source. “So they stuffed him in the cabinet and locked the door.”
Indeed, there must be no joy in Mudville today – and I may even take a trip later.
And while DFA sends now letters asking their members to “call on Tim Kaine”, Trippi makes the obvious accusations
Getting closer to the point, Trippi added: “You don’t have to look any further than Rahm Emanuel.”
Whomever. What was that B0bot quote back in June?
Obama did not install one of his cronies, which would be a huge change over past Presidencies.
Indeed. A whole day since the DNC illegally awarded him the primary and no cronie in sight. Hooray.
But just so I show that I am not bitter, i’ll end this with some saucy famous last words from Dean. In an interview with Tweety before the trip he said:
“You gotta hand it to Blagojevich,” said Dean of the embattled Illinois governor’s brazen appointment of Roland Burris to succeed Obama in the Senate. “What a maneuver! What a maneuver! When his back was against the wall he outsmarted a lot of people.”
Indeed, Howard. And I am enjoying it as much as you do
Democrats with knowledge of the situation said Dean has clashed with Obama aides and Democratic leaders in Congress and had been asked by Obama advisers not to attend.
We asked the DNC what is in the future for Howard Dean and so far have had no reply.
In Mudville denial prevails – softened by the many news reports. There are the usual “DLC did this” and a few even take issue with Teh One
IMO, Obama doesn’t want to appear with Howard Dean because
and someone even draws a picture – probably a better header than mine
Are we ready for the “Progressive Party” yet?
while others blame….Hillary
IF it is true, it hits me as bad as Obama’s honoring Bigot Warren and will provide absolute and unmistakable evidence of lack of character in the Ego and Expediency President. (You gotta’ admit, there is plenty of characterLESS smoke around BO.)
And speaking of that …
what in the world is the deal with Obama’s treatment of Wesley Clark and why?
Indeed, this reminded me of Clarn and the Convention too. Ads B0bot:
If that is indeed what put Clark totally and rudely out of the loop — when he was rightfully DEFENDING Obama. . .
it is plainly obvious what kind of new President we have.
There is a lot of yelling at DLC, Emanuel, Hillary – a smattering of primary memories…
and the host himself is jumping in, waving his credentials
This blog’s history is that we were the first major blog to support Obama a year ago. And Huff Post and AP are not notorious for misleading headlines – I think you have them confused with FOX News. Howard Dean should have been there, and he wasn’t – something is up, and now we hear that he was told not to attend. The facts are damning, don’t blame us for reporting the truth. Obama is screwing up and it’s hurting all of us.
Indeed. The first idiots are now deluding themselves they are the first to wake up. This is fun!
And some are beginning to shed the rosy glasses
