First, let me put it in perspective: I believe that the whole Warren bruhaha is a diversion meant to distract from Blago & other more serious goings on, with a hint of payback to it.

That being said, h/t to Pumapac Katha Pollitt writes in LA Times just about how many consituencies are thrown under the bus with this “agree to disagree”

Because gay activists raised the Prop 8 issues right away, the common wisdom was that this is a “gay thing”. Because NOW sold out its constituency this year, nobody paid attention to Warren’s views about women. I myself knew about his anti-choice stands, but I now find out that

He doesn’t just want to ban abortion, he’s compared women who terminate pregnancies to Nazis and the pro-choice position to Holocaust denial.

and also, beyond abortion

Or take marriage. At his Saddleback Church, wifely submission is official doctrine: The church website tells women to defer to their husband’s “leadership” even when he’s wrong on important issues, such as finances

which Pollitt leads to the ultimate conclusion:

Never mind if she’s an accountant and he flunked long division, or if she wants to beef up the kids’ college fund and he wants to buy shares in the Brooklyn Bridge. The godly answer is supposed to be “yes, dear.” Is elevating this male chauvinist how President-elect Obama thanks women, who gave him more than half his votes?

Well, Katha, the answer to this is: yes, he can. You women who preferred to iron his shirts to having the first woman president and then jumped of the “inexperience” of Governor Palin, justifying the one of the perpetual candidate Obama in “running his campaigns” are getting what you asked for.

Even now, in this article as the realization of betrayal is dawning, the focus is hardly on Obama but on Warren – who at least has been who he is and never pretended otherwise.

Warren didn’t put a spell on Obama.

Obama was always sexist and used misogyny in all his campaigns.

Warren is just one of those hard to ignore signs.

Aren’t you glad you undermined Hillary? (I know the Nation once acknowledged she was more progressive than Obama – re: Blackwater – then promptly endorsed Obama)

Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.

In fact, to use the way those infomercial mailings put it
“you might have already gotten it”
