I guess it’s my peculiar history, but the sicialists I know of were Russians and those in the rest of the Eastern Block countries. Silly me!

Shame on McCain and Palin for using an old code word for black

glares a Kansas City Star editorial

The “socialist” label that Sen. John McCain and his GOP presidential running mate Sarah Palin are trying to attach to Sen. Barack Obama actually has long and very ugly historical roots.

Seems the word “socialist was not invented by karl Marks, nor was it applied by lenin, Stalin et al, but it’s  entirely the creation of…Jay edgar Hoover!

J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924 to 1972, used the term liberally to describe African Americans who spent their lives fighting for equality.

Those freedom fighters included the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who led the Civil Rights Movement; W.E.B. Du Bois, who in 1909 helped found the NAACP which is still the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization; Paul Robeson,….

So, it’s seems that just like the fact that Ayers was white didn’t stop “terrorist” from being racist,

In a post-Sept. 11 America, terrorists are envisioned as dark-skinned radical Muslims, not the homegrown anarchists of Ayers’ day 40 years ago. With Obama a relative unknown when he began his campaign, the Internet hummed with false e-mails about ties to radical Islam of a foreign-born candidate.

So did the entire 2 centuries of Socialism in Europe fail to trump a few of Hoover investigations.

It’s now racist to say: socialist, terrorist, inexperienced, fairy tale, arrogant, unqualified, admitted he took drugs and a few code words I might have forgotten. Please post them in the comments.

I smell a post-racial era dictionary in the making

Ironically, the McCarthy-sm of this campaign and its media already replaced “communist” with racist”

Are we resurrecting the ghost of McCarthyism? Oh No, not Joe (Joseph McCarthy) coming to our politics once again. Do we never learn that stifling someone’s free speech stifles all free speech?.

Now part of a great play: The Racism game

CAREY: Ooooh indeed! Well, let’s start the show. Because it’s a special night, we’ve got some celebrities with us!

And next, we have the incomparable Louis Diuguid of The Kansas City Star, who proved to Americans that the word “socialist” was a racial slur in October of 2008!

Youthful, witty Kerry strikes again

“I don’t know if any of you know what it’s like. I do, obviously,” Kerry told the crowd. “I’ve been asked all of those brilliant questions that were repeated this year…Barack got asked the famous boxers or briefs question. I was tempted to say commando…

“Then they asked McCain and McCain said, ‘Depends,'” Kerry said.

Wasn’t McCain the man Kerry begged 4 yars ago to be his VP?

Be careful what you wish for, funny man. You may get it.

It appear I am not the only angry one that media turned against the voters

In the audience Saturday [at the McCain rally in Virginia], there were plenty of people who were mad about [Joe the Plumber]. There was real anger at this rally, but it wasn’t, as some erroneous press reports from other McCain rallies have suggested, aimed at Obama. It was aimed at the press.

Some interesting excahanges are mentioned

Someone asked why Munoz had come to the rally. “I support McCain, but I’ve come to face you guys because I’m disgusted with you guys,” he said. “Why the hell are you going after Joe the Plumber?

Even better:

A black woman with a strong Caribbean accent jumped in the fray. “Tell me,” she said to Corn, “why is it you can go and find out about Joe the Plumber’s tax lien and when he divorced his wife and you can’t tell me when Barack Obama met with William Ayers? Why? Why could you not tell us that? Joe the Plumber is me!”

David Corn from the Nation had the chutzpa to defend his role of the judge of the voters and really stepped in it:

I am Joe the Plumber!” Munoz chimed in. “You’re attacking me.”

“Wait a second,” Corn said. “Do you pay your taxes?”

“Yes, I pay my taxes,” the woman said.

“Then you’re better than Joe the Plumber,” Corn said.

Wow! David Corn feels now entitled to sit in judgment, deciding who is better than other. Who died and made those people judges?

That set off a general free-for-all. “I’m going to tell you something,” Munoz yelled at Corn. “I’m better than Obama. Why? Because I’m not associated with terrorists!”

As I posted in my social experiment entry, the media is engaged in direct war on the not-for-Obama voter.

This was one of the more open battles – when the voters had the chance to make their voices heard.

For that brief, bright moment, they even had the last word:

“Let me talk,” Munoz said to Corn. “I know the Constitution, and I know my First Amendment — ”

“I’m not the state,” Corn said. “I can’t take that right away from you.”

“No, no,” Munoz shot back. “Even the state, the state cannot take that right away.”

“Right, right,” Corn quickly agreed.

Bet you didn’t see this one coming!

Editor and Publisher keeps a tally

The Obama-Biden ticket maintains its strong lead in the race for daily newspaper endorsements, by 112 to 39, an almost 3-1 margin, picking up 70 or more papers in the past three days

What? Newspapers endorsed McCain ? Why? he’s the guy who OPPOSES Obama! That can’t be!

Still, Editor and Publisher is shocked

In a real shocker, two solid Bush papers in 2004, the Houston Chronicle and Austin American-Statesman, also came out for Obama on Sunday.

Obama’s lopsided margin, including most of the major papers that have decided so far, is in stark contrast to John Kerry barely edging George W. Bush in endorsements in 2004 by 213 to 205.

Interesting difference there. Those who “elected” Bush (because we voters didn’t) are set to pick us another.

Well, DUH!
