For all the universal badmouthing in the media (because Obama sez so), voters seem to disagree
A majority of voters (52%) favor John McCain’s plan for the federal government to buy up distressed mortgages and refinance them so homeowners can stay in their homes, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Thirty-five percent (35%) oppose the plan.
And, what is even more interesting
Democrats like McCain’s plan more than Republicans, even though Barack Obama opposes it. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Democratic voters think it’s a good idea, compared to 47% of Republicans – and 49% of unaffiliated voters.
Seventy percent (70%) of African-American voters favor McCain’s plan, as do 50% of white voters.
And even more fascinating
Not surprisingly, support for McCain’s plan is highest among those in lower income groups.
Since it’s been brought up, Hillary joined the nay sayers group, shilling for Obama
Mrs. Clinton’s office called that claim “offensive,” and said her proposal, which she detailed last month on the Senate floor, was different.
For this, Hillary, I decided: McCain does get my vote. All this lying from the Democrats made me nauseaous.
For the record, Obama first took credit for Hillary’s plan then stubbornly opposed this, not offering anything. Shame!

Isn’t McCain’s plain similar to Hillary’s?
I haven’t read the whole plan but it sounds like it would address the falling house values issue.

Hillary should be offended that the DNC chose that corrupt Chicago thug over her. She did have great ideas. The DNC probably thought they could control that Arab lover.

What is Hillary doing? McCain gave her credit for the plan. She’s going to start chasing her own supporters off with this kind of stuff. Out and out lying for Obama? I can understand her having to campaign for Obama, I know she’s afraid of loosing her seat in the Senate, but this? Her supporters all know this was her plan. Most of us have seen the video.

This is not the Hillary that I knew and loved.

It may not be the Hillary you knew and loved lee M., but it is now typical of the Democratic party that I am glad I quit.

I’m not a fan of McCain’s mortgage plan (Republican here!), but this is typical McCain. He does what he can to help the American people. He compromises and reaches across the aisles. He’s a good man. You can see it in his face, in his eyes, and on his America-loving heart that he wears on his sleeve.

Yes Edge, Lee and Cookie, where is the Hillary we thought we knew??? How can she keep this up? Well, maybe she really doesn’t think Obama is so bad? Or ‘not as bad’ as the alternative? Hard to figure. I know this is horrible to say but how about she doesn’t want to see Sarah Palin win? After all, unchecked, I think Sarah Palin could be the President in 2012 if John McCain wins in 2008. I love Hillary, I cherish her but what she is doing, “shilling” is a good word Edge, makes me wonder. It conjures up all sorts of bad images of deception. Haven’t we had enough of that?

The plan is a stupid plan. That is why it should be rejected. If you take a telephone poll you are likely to get people (especially poor people, more likely Democrats who favor government intervention) who will say they support the plan. Once they realize that the tax payer will be forced to swallow an immediate tax bill to bail out bankers and delinquent homeowners the poll would likely be very different. That is why conservative Republicans don’t like it. That is why blue dog Democrats won’t buy it.
Hillary is opposed to this plan because it is nonsensical as the man who proposed it and his running mate.

Brian S;
It’s a compromise, and “all of the above” will be implemented: toxic debt buyout, capital investment reinforcement of banks, and homeowner assistance.
There’s too much at stake to go for ideological purity.

Hillary is damaging herself more and more with this defense of Obama. She should stay out of the Presidential campaign and stick to local candidates. The more she shills for Obama, esp. when she even goes against her own plan, the less like a leader she seems to be.
As for the polling info…it is fascinating. Perhaps there is hope, maybe people are actually looking at facts rather than the media spin.
But McCain has to stay strong and not undermine himself with bipartisan feel-good stuff while running ads against Ayers. and ACORN. And why is the ACORN/mortgage ad only on the internet? When does McCain show some of that courage he has and speak the truth? Somebody has to…soon!

There goes Hillary, being a loyal Democrat again… Lots of good that’s going to do. If Obama is a failed president, anyone who has endorsed him in the past will be similarly tainted by that association. Just as McCain today is attacked (unfairly) as “Bush’s third term”, whoever the Dems run in the aftermath of Obama will have to run (fairly or unfairly) against accusations of representing Obama’s second (because I don’t think Obama will get more than one) term.
The bottom line is that Hillary hopes to run for president ever again, she needs to distance herself from Obama at some point. And the sooner the better.

I am really becoming annoyed with Hillary. I supported like no other and even continued to give money even after she quit and even sent more money to erase her debt. I had never given money EVER to any candidate in any election,BUT she is going to far with this Obama thing and they still can’t stand her. I cannot believe she is still so loyal to the dems after what dean, pelosi, reid and others did.

This thing with Howard Stern is so true. Most of the brothers and sisters that I have talked to are voting for O because he is the same color. They could give a rat’s A__ what the issues are. Another set of weak voters Nobama has preyed upon are the college students. I’m just not ready to have them affect the future of this country with their Nobama vote. They have not had jobs yet, do not have to make mtg & car payments and try to raise of a family and then have to worry about educating them, yet everyone is so elated they are in the voting process.
