I knew Oborg was at it, but thought the campaign was a bit more realistic about that. But noooo!

TIME reports that the Obama canpaign actualy said

“Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency,” campaign spokesman Bill Burton said.

I guess the media protection thy got in the primary (against Hillary) made them think it was OK to project his faults on the opponent. It was quite ridiculous when he challenged Clarence Thomas’s lack of qualification (before picking Biden who made it possible), but now he’ll be called out for it.

mcCain campaign responds:

“It is pretty audacious for the Obama campaign to say that Governor Palin is not qualified to be Vice President. She has a record of accomplishment that Senator Obama simply cannot match. Governor Palin has spent her time in office shaking up government in Alaska and actually achieving results — whether it’s taking on corruption, passing ethics reform or stopping wasteful spending and the ‘bridge to nowhere.’ Senator Obama has spent his time in office running for President.”

Concludes Halperin

What’s amazing about this statement is not just that it was so stupid but that it was part of a PREPARED statement.

Meanwhile they dispatch trolls on our blogs to try to make the point that Palin’s selection would somehow be an insult to Hillary supporters. BZZZZZT! Wrong! Obama selecting a woman – other than Hillary would have been an insult. Mccain’s pick is vindication.

Hillary shows class in her statement:

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain. While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”

while Clyburn finds new ways to insult us and send us voting McCain

“I do believe that McCain has to do something to reshuffle the cards, shake up the establishment, do something unexpected and Governor Palin has all the kinds of things that McCain might see as a way to shake things up. I think [her selection] would be something similar to Dan Quayle. Dan Quayle proved to be sort of an embarrassment as a campaigner. Being thrust on a national stage like that could be very tough. Now Mondale tried to shake things up by going with Geraldine Ferraro.she proved to be a disaster as a running mate. And as a campaigner, she was absolutely awful. And so I just think that it is very risky for McCain to do this, but it may be all he has left.

Here it is in its entirety from the Guardian which so far was a cheerleader:

Obama wins make-believe Democratic party vote designed to be won by Obama

Of course, you do know Guardian, this is racist, right? I mean, “make believe” is almost as bad a slur as “fairy-tale”. And don’t even try to pretend it was about the vote. Clinton  also tried to say his was about war opposition

and nobody believed him either! Still, the longest sentence in history that follows is also the funniest so here goes:

..Aaaand we’re back, just in time to note that, pursuant to Section C8 of the Democratic Party Rules and Procedures, Barack Obama just won the convention’s very carefully choreographed roll-call vote, during which the representatives of many state delegations boasted that their state was better than all the others, until finally Hillary Clinton stepped forward to end the voting and award the nomination to Obama by acclamation, and Nancy Pelosi, who was overseeing the ceremonies, asked those who agreed to say “yay,” and those who disagreed to say “nay,” but cleverly left no time at all for anyone to actually say “nay” before declaring that the motion had been passed, making Obama the official Democratic party nominee, and then everyone burst into tears and they played Love Train on the PA system and everyone was very happy, the end.

That was funny. Does it mean the Guardian put down the kool-aid?

Anyway, adding my guy’s contribution to the poetry contest

There once was a convention in Denver
It was really a thing to remember
The vote was a sham
They all went to 0bam
Let’s see how he does in November

On this side of the pond only someone like Buchanan dared write about the obvious:

DENVER — After the phony roll call vote was taken here to formally nominate Barack Obama — a roll call that did not remotely reflect the true delegate strength of Hillary — the media exploded in an orgy of celebration about the historic character of the moment to which they had just been privileged to be witness.

and he even noted the treatment of the Clintons after the accusations of racism:

Here at the convention, the media watched Hillary and Bill’s speeches with a commissar’s care — to ensure they not only embraced Barack but “validated” his credentials to be president. Should they not go all out for Obama, we are told, the Clintons are dead in the party.

and then on the good ve evil framing of this election:

With this immense moral and emotional investment in a Barack victory — by 94 to 1 in one poll black America is behind him — what happens if the nation decides he is too radical, too inexperienced, too callow, too risky to be president?

What happens if the American people reject their marching orders and say no to Barack and black America? What happens if all the hopes and dreams, hype and hoopla, end in disillusionment?

No candidate has ever been nominated by a major party with fewer credentials or a weaker claim to the presidency, or more doubts as to his core beliefs. If Obama wins, the country could be in real trouble. And if he loses, the country could be in real trouble.

What the media celebrate today, they may rue tomorrow.

These are the Reasons for the Puma PAC Protest of the 2008 Election

  • The DNC punished the VOTERS of Florida and Michigan with DISENFRANCHISEMENT because of the actions of their elected officials. In Florida, Democratic VOTERS WERE DISENFRANCHISED because of the shenanigans of a REPUBLICAN legislature.
  • The DNC CHANGED THE VOTES of 600,000 Michiganders on May 31, 2008 when it stole 4 pledged delegates from one candidate and re-pledged them to another.
  • The Obama Movement PAID THE SUPERDELEGATES who endorsed Senator Obama. Crucial Super Delegates pledged their support to Obama after the Obama Movement contributed tens of thousands of dollars to them. These were Super Delegates whose constituents had voted overwhelmingly for Senator Clinton in the primaries.
  • The DNC ALLOWED SEXIST BIAS TO HANDICAP THE ONLY WOMAN IN THE RACE. When Tucker Carlson said that Hillary Clinton was a CASTRATOR, the DNC WAS SILENT. When Chris Matthews said that Bill Clinton’s INFIDELITY was the ONLY REASON for Hillary Clinton’s achievements, the DNC WAS SILENT. When the MEDIA CIRCUS unleashed a sexist onslaught of criticism against Senator Clinton regarding: her laugh, her cleavage, her pants, her wrinkles, her earrings, her “bitchiness,” her emotional “instability” the DNC WAS SILENT.
  • The DNC and the Obama Movement SUPPRESSED THE VOTES OF CLINTON DELEGATES at the National Convention in Denver. On August 27th, 2008 the DNC and the Obama Movement maneuvered an undemocratic and underhanded voting script to ensure that Hillary Clinton’s pledged delegates (and the 18 million votes they represented) HAD NO VOTE. Entire state delegations were brow-beaten into voting Present or Passing their votes to other states. August 27, 2008 is a day that will live in infamy for the Democratic National Committee.

From Capital Hill limmerick contest, Lula May’s entry fits this

The election was stolen from Gore
Leaving Democrats in an uproar
Now it’s Obama
Taking votes from yer mama
I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore!

I will never be a fan of David Brooks – not anymore than MoDo. But today’s column is a hoot!

We know that Barack could have gone to a prestigious law firm, like his big donors in the luxury boxes, but he chose to put his ego aside to become a professional politician, president of the United States and redeemer of the human race. We heard about his time as a community organizer, the three most fulfilling months of his life.

but how does he really feel?

We were thrilled by his speech in front of the Greek columns, which were conscientiously recycled from the concert, “Yanni, Live at the Acropolis.” We were honored by his pledge, that if elected president, he will serve at least four months before running for higher office. We were moved by his campaign slogan, “Vote Obama: He’s better than you’ll ever be.

Mind you, I don’t forget when he was adoring Obama – to get rid of Hillary. I even remember when he pretended to love Dean. That being said, I had to keep this

As a child, I was abandoned by my parents and lived with a colony of ants. We didn’t have much in the way of material possession, but we did have each other and the ability to carry far more than our own body weights. When I was young, I was temporarily paralyzed in a horrible anteater accident, but I never gave up my dream: the dream of speaking at a national political convention so my speech could be talked over by Wolf Blitzer and a gang of pundits.

and end with the great begining:

For this election isn’t about the past or the present, or even the pluperfect conditional. It’s about the future, and Barack Obama loves the future because that’s where all his accomplishments are.

I am still not supporting any candidate yet – but I have to bow to the brilliance of the move!

Democrats tell women to shut up – their votes are not even counted in a real roll call.

But on the other side, the guy who already had women in higher position and was paying them better – has a woman VP!  her debates with Mr “Anita Hill was nuts” ought to be a hoot!

    here’s Joe again

There is absolutely not one shred of evidence to suggest that Professor Hill is fantasizing, not one shred of evidence to suggest that Professor Hill isn’t and has not been in total control of all her faculties. There is no shred of evidence for the garbage that I hear — not on this floor — but I’ve heard in the newscast floating around that somehow she really is telling — that she thinks she’s telling the truth. The only answer we can come up with is she must be fantasizing.

    and here’s Obama

    Game over!

For added enjoyment here’s Arabela Trefoil’s comment at Confluence

Pelosi is now trying to convince Cheney and Bush to go into the hospital for minor elective surgery that requires anesthesia.

Then she’ll be the first woman president for a day!

And I got into the Capital Hill poertry contest and came up with a limerick for this

    Joe and Jill
    went up to Hill
To say that she was a nut
    John got Sarah
    and now the rah-rah
is that it is tit for tat

Long live identity politics! Who’s got the winning coalition now?
