Been on DU )first time in years) looking for that poster. Didn’t find it, but I found one of the most mind boggling cause for celebration
More pertinently, they do not like this meme at all
One campaign meme on Facebook answered this by “Of course we were better the day Obama took office, because Bush was gone. *can’t find me asthey didn’t like my comment) Fair enough, but any good news since?
Here’s a by the numbers answer
Gross Domestic Product
Fourth quarter, 2008: -6.2 percent
Second quarter, 2012: +1.7 percent
January 2009: 11.1 million
Now: 12.8 million
Unemployment rate, overall
January 2009: 7.8 percent
Now: 8.3 percent
Median family income
End of 2011: $51,413
The more notable comment in that Facebook exchange: Better disappointment than disaster. Which still doesn’t reach the heights of Avrosis comparing Obama to chemotherapy
or a mattress collecting your broken bones after a fall
Since reading Miq post, I had edited the Wikipedia article, (criticism section) adding some disclosure about James Roosevelt
In the interest of disclosure, it must be said that James Roosevelt was also the CEO of Tuft Healthcare Institute and a few months after giving Obama delegates in a state he didn’t run was drafting the insurers demands for the healthcare bill which all ended up in the law | url = http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/insurance-ceo-fronts-obama-steals-election-for-him-writes-hcr/
We’ll see if it stays.
As for the blog wars nonsense, while I am flatered that I am featured by both the original handle (Edgeoforever) and the present one (Not Your Sweetie), I must also remark that I didn’t split from anywhere. I have always been an independent blogger – and in the summer of 2008 I was part of the PUMA movement. I still read the Confluence. Myiq and Murphy’s entries regularly.
Here is Myiq’s article

CORNEL WEST: And I would say that even about the Obama administration. The Obama administration seems to have very little concern about poor people and their social misery. Look at the policies vis-à-vis Wall Street downplaying Main Street. Look at the policies of black farmers, a settlement already in place but they don’t want to executed because they don’t want to be associated with black folk too explicitly. Look at the dilapidated housing. We can go across the board. Look at the New Jim Crow system: the Prison Industrial Complex. We’re not talking just about individual presidents. We’re talking about a system that is tilted against poor people, against working people, disproportionately black and brown and red.
Suddenly, they can criticize Obama without being called racist!
12. I guess we won’t see the “this is just more racism from the left”
crowd in this thread. thanks for posting!
Most posts are pure Cornel West worship.

Would it be considered helping them do their jobs, or would they come down hard on me? Just wondering. Any TSA airport screeners out there?
I’m going to fly next month so any tips or ideas would be appreciated.
(Oh yeah, I’m a male, btw
However, as Obama weighs in, lots of anger
“I understand people’s frustrations, and what I’ve said to the TSA is that you have to constantly refine and measure whether what we’re doing is the only way to assure the American people’s safety. And you also have to think through are there other ways of doing it that are less intrusive,” Obama said.
“But at this point, TSA in consultation with counterterrorism experts have indicated to me that the procedures that they have been putting in place are the only ones right now that they consider to be effective against the kind of threat that we saw in the Christmas Day bombing.”

13. How can he possibly understand it considering he and his
wife and daughters don’t have to go through it?
Firs he, with his wife and daughters should go through airport security, be patted down and scanned, and then he should talk on how he understands it. Permalink
2. Then he will be willing to set an example as a leader and
subject his wife and daughters and himself, to these abusive practices. He gets further and further away from the people every time he speaks on issues that are important to the people.
I know what is good for me and my family. A politician who is protected from these abuses cannot and does not speak for me. And to think I once thought he did.

…..The Republican President and the Republican Party were at the bottom of it all. They could have been forced to agree with just about any policy that would help to get our economy stabilized. They had no choice.
But somehow, the Democrats let them back into the game. They did not apply the knockout punch which was deserved and called for. After a year of debating healthcare reform, they had regained their credibility with a lot of voters. Then, they killed the Democrats in the midterm elections a few weeks ago. Did the Democrats squander an opportunity to put the Republicans away for a long time?
Many think the answer is “yes”. But the loyal Os are still at it

The cartoon that is on my Jr.jr page for a year now as well as more recent entries, including the very popular latest DUdies finally makes its way there (with the disclaimer it’s “from Canada” – kinda like the Coneheads were “from France”). I found it at Truthdig. Last year when these scaners were first discussed.
Fine. Canada I am.

19. Of Course! Obama is EXACTLY the same as Bush!
Nothing could possibly make more sense!
He was born into money and power, failed upwards his entire life, was a C student, a womanizer, an alcoholic coke-head, a PNAC puppet installed in office for the sake of launching wars in the Middle East, a personal embarrassment to the US in every foreign nation he made a diplomatic faux-pas, the vast majority of the world despises him, he has blown off warnings about terrorsts entirely, corporations and their minions LOVE him, he has helped funnel billions of dollars to his cronies’ and father’s business interests, he is inarticulate, intellectually incurious, and can’t pronounce the word ‘nuclear’.

See you back Friday, for the next edition!.
A very insightful UK analysis
They know the people who caused the crash are fatter than ever, while the people who had nothing to do with it take the pain, and Obama is left calling this farce progress. In the absence of a liberal populism that would have actually fixed these problems, all the oxygen goes to the fake populism of the Tea Party. US politics has ended up as a battle between the mostly corrupt and the entirely corrupt.
is met with the usual “Love Obama or die” attitude from 2008,

Obey Teh Leader is the only thing required for total trust. Nothing changed from 2008 Karl Rove was believed more than Paul Krugman.
The Freeper’s beatification is even more jarring when Skinner is whitewashing it all
We are all progressives here. We all share the same core values. Our arguments — when we have them — are about the details. It is easy to believe that a different opinion on the details is a clue to ones opinion on the big picture stuff. But here on DU, that usually isn’t the case. We all want the same things.
yeah, all. Freepers, Cat Food commission boosters and others – they are all progressives. And everyone screaming “bitch” and “cunt” in 2008. Very progressive. Until Dear leader declares the word to be icky at least.

Of course, Obama would also have to call himself a whiner.
And the most popular thread on DU celebrate Obama’s “reaching out to the common man” (as represented by the Daily Show audience) It gets my DUdie,
I think I saw a different side of him than I’d ever seen before.
I loved the fact that he made himself vulnerable and opened himself
to any questions that were asked of him. (How many of YOU would
allow themselves to be cross-examined by the likes of Jon Stewart?)
Seems like Obama really reached out to the common man. Basically,
he explained himself and I, for one, loved that.
There are many more gushing paragraphs after this one, but the “common man” got to me.
Remember Howard Dean? The guy who said he didn’t notice the sexism during the 2008 campaign because he didn’t have cable? But now that he found out about it, he was so incensed?
He always had the gift to say either the right thing at the wrong time or the other way around.
In this case, the timing is out of Dean’s control. Someone included his quote in a book and Huffpo chose to write about it
Of course, like in the case of the sexism remarks, Dean’s good words come out a bit late.
Little did he know when he was settling accounts with his political arch-rival that Obama will run around with the same sharp scissors by the time his comment got out. But the words are pretty good:
“I’m not looking to pick another fight with Rahm Emanuel, but the contempt with which he held the progressive wing of the party was devastating and incredibly demoralizing,” Dean said. “That’s basically saying to your own people — you got us here, now FU.”
and this is right on too
Dean is quoted as saying. “The principal problem with OFA is the same one the president’s having. You can’t dictate to your base what’s going to happen. It’s got to be a two-way deal, and it hasn’t been.”
Of course, now that this became the official 2 step strategy to move the country to the right (lose election, blame the left), Dean’s words are twisting in the air…
Asked to comment on this article, he predictably refused.
On DU, a loving tribute to Dean was posted, with some engaging in happy, safe Rahm kicking.
One of Obama’s apologists though noticed the flaw
“Dean did not immediately return a request for comment about the most recent round of Obama-Biden statements.”Yeah, let’s pull out old statement by Dean to give the impression that he disagrees with the President.
Howard Dean said recently that health care was real reform. Want to pull out his old statements about the bill? Permalink
and even finds a recent dean appearance where he predicts victory in Novemver and praises Obama
Ad yea, I am petty enough to chalk one more mark for Dean in my Schadenfreude list
