A few weeks ago, nobody heard of Carl Paladino, a rich realtor from Buffalo who beat silly Lazio in the Republican primaries for Governor. Lazio – if you remember, ran against Hillary for senate in 2000 and made a laughing stock of himself by trying to bully her in a debate. So, beating Lazio, by outspending him – not a big a deal. The story would have ended here.

Day after day,

on covers of newspapers

And who can forget the “Governor in waiting”? And the hoax scandals the press cooked for him to make it easy for Cuomo – who was investigating Paterson?

stuff like this

and since he didn’t resign, this

All this to get Cuomo to run un-opposed.
Fast forward to today
Cuomo 49, Paladino 43: Now Here’s a Shocking Poll
And to make it funnier, Bloomberg’s endorsement, not so useful either.
Karma is a bitch.
Because I remember it all, I predicted the polls getting closer the moment I saw Paladino getting covers.
Not a lot of reasons to vote Cuomo, are they?
In short: I told you so.

Paladino’s a loudmouthed asshole, but at least I know what he’s thinking. Besides, I do NOT like the idea of a mosque at GZ. Period. If we think this won’t encourage other nutcases to blow things up so they can plant a new mosque in each of the craters, we’re crazy.
If they had such respect for mosques, they wouldn’t have blown up the WTC in the first place, since there was one in the buildings for people to go to to pray.

I won’t go as far as to find any merit in a choice of Paladino. But the least, I want Cuomo to be sweating bullets until the last minute.

I don’t know. Given the way that Obama was selected as the nominee and the gutwrenching damage he’s done to the Democratic party, I think it’s worth it to vote for Paladino. What they did was just too horrific for anything else to get ahead of it. They demolished the voting process — they have to suffer for that. Without that, we have NOTHING.
It’s like chemotherapy. It’s not pleasant, and it might kill you itself, but sometimes you have to fight with an ugly weapon. We have to think at the 80,000 foot level here; this is so far beyond individual policies that it’s not even funny. If we don’t smack the SHIT out of the Democrats now and hard enough to make their heads ring for the next twenty years, then we might as well roll over and give up on every policy we care about from health care to the environment to anything else you care to name. NO ONE’S pet issue will be safe unless and until we ensure that our votes count.
And right now, the only way to make sure that they don’t pull this horseshit again is to make them hurt so bad they never forget it.

Amen to that! I remember getting into an argument regarding only voting for women candidates. That is all very fine and good…but NOT if they are Democrat. I was there May 31, 2008…the day the vote died.

I agree, but let’s hope they get the right message because there’s a good possibility that the circle D’s will take the loss as a signal to go even further to the right.
