Appropriatedly named Talking point memo is issuing a new meme based on a Quinnipiac poll
Poll: Tea Party Is The Home Of The Angry White Woman
Just in time to counteract headlines such as
Obama To Host Pro-Life Dems For Abortion Executive Order Signing
There’s a recount of th long history of this Romneycare passing in WaPo. A small passage about Stupak caught my attention
The women became furious. Voices were raised. Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (D-N.Y.), a close friend of Pelosi’s, lamented about “all the women we were just throwing under the bus” and called it “a betrayal of all the women that had fought for this for so long.” Pelosi, according to two participants, had tears in her eyes. But she got the votes — that time.
The ladies quickly got over it though and sold the rest of us. Now we have a Supak EO and everyone is happy.
And now, that the women Democrats have been silenced (it’s just symbolic, ya know), the tea party is blamed on women because
55% are women, while just 45% are men.
and only later we get told that this is the usual percentage for all political parties
As for the gender breakdown, the 55% female majority puts the tea party movement in line with other political parties, with the exception of independents. That group is more male than female by a margin of 54-46.
But the opportunity presents itself to nail the bitches, so why not?
I don’t know how many PUMAs joined the tea party – I know some did and that’s when I removed my own affiliation with PUMA to avoid confusion.
I do however see an ugly backlash in this headline, a return to the misogynistic days of the 2008 elections.

Be careful what you wish for. I had just written a fer days ago that being ignored is even worse than being maligned in the last election.
In fact, they talk about it in B0botland and all old slurs are back
. Angry (and I would bet, extremely uneducated) OLDER white women
|
I would love to see the educational level correlates. I am betting that this is a consequence of many decades of diminishing high school graduation rates during these older women’s lives (and increasing divorce rates) with the accompanying decimation of future opportunities.
Just my hunch, but a good one, I think 9. Shouldn’t that be OLD angry white woman?
|
Yeah. The gut hatred is back. That coupled with the hint of race bait in the “White” shall drive the November elections. At least from the B0bots POV.
Update
Only a few days later, here comes a Gallup poll demolishing that factoid
Tea Party supporters are decidedly Republican and conservative in their leanings. Also, compared with average Americans, supporters are slightly more likely to be male and less likely to be lower-income.
Gallup has the numbers reversed from Quinnipiac: (second row represents percentages of US adults)

55% men, 45 women.
But then again, all polls are manufactured reality. Gallup just wanted to make a different point than Quinnipiac.

Well, this is certainly going to upset all the angry black women I’ve met at tea parties. Isn’t excluding them, uhm, raaaacist ?

Wow how about one for complete and utter hypocrisy. i guess only care about sexism when it is directed towards Hillary Clinton & Sarah Palin. At all other times it does not matter. Buttered, your good self, DeniseVB, you have all enjoyed a good ol bigot at Hillbuzz. Sexism and homophobia when directed towards lesbians – irrelevant (funny to you even), when directed towards Oprah Winfrey, funny, Michelle Obama – very funny.
Be honest with yourselves – do you stand against sexism or was that al la ruse because you hated the fact that someone else beat your candidate nearly two years ago?
I kind of wish Dances did have a go at you – of all the PUMA bigotbots at least Zee and her have some principles.

Are you recommending me Pumapac? I visit it every day, it’s an excellent site. You seem to be way to familiar with individual posters and where they post for an outsider.
Stalk much?

And how about your own hypocrisy? Do you know where I’ve read the most rabid homophobic & misogynisitic attacks outside of vile freeper sites? On DU, that’s where.
I don’t recall your seeing your name during the pitched battles over Donnie McClurkin, and I’ve never seen you protesting when Hillary’s name was dragged in the mud during the primaries. I’ve never been to Hillbuzz or Pumapac, but when PUMA spontaneously sprung up at The Confluence, it was a terrific idea. I wish it hadn’t been corrupted because god knows, liberals need a new grassroots movement now.
Instead of feeding your obsession with PUMA, a movement that doesn’t even exist anymore, try cleaning up DU and maybe all the real liberals & progressives will come back & start posting again.

Sorry for not picking up the trash earlier. This is one sick puppy – reading our blogs every day, more than anyone does, looking for arguments.

Edge, somewhere along I missed all that about PUMA becoming Tea Party…
Right now, I am immediately removing PUMA references on my blog page!!
I never was a Tea Partier, although we had one report early on from GG when the movement was still about the fiscal problems we had, before it morphed into a wing of the GOP….
Thanks for clariying this for me!!!

It’s not a clear thing, really. But I made this decision after attending a certain gathering that was – let’s say – different than the year before.
Again, PUMAPac continues to stand for everything we started as – so, it’s everyone’s individual decision as to the names.

One more thing. You take yourself way too seriously, BB. Whether here, on DU or anywhere else, no one really cares what does or doesn’t impress you.
Edge, on the other hand, was one of the strongest voices on DU. When she posted a thread, it was always a must read. Very few strong voices like hers left…have you noticed? Get off your high horse, you have no idea the kind of person you’re trying to patronize here.

I was over at DU for a brief moment (the first in ages, since the primaries” and noticed the Kool-Aid is as strong as ever.
I just purged my blogroll of many sites which were anti-Obama but have not reverted to bashing liberals becaue they are Republican/rightie sites.
That includes a few biggies who seem to worship Glenn Beck and seem to think O is a socialist, when in reality, he’s a Republican and we are in the F*cist state full-tilt.

My impressions of B0botland as of late: there are really about two dozens posters left. Half of these are operatives, very aggressive these days, expecting everyone to “eat crow” on Romneycare. The rest, are mostly people who are awake and angry as hell. A few are still moving back and forth between the two.
