On Sunday news tends to be local (good) and very trivial (not so good). So I searched all over the country for stories of interest:
Arkansas Democrat has one of those stories where they use “US” instead of Obama so you know it’s going to be bad news (the rule went opposite with Clinton)

And if you’re courious about that OHV decision they plan to reverse, it was something protecting national forests. Let the trucks roll in!
Also in Arkansas, begging for the money for the terrorist trials – this is a circus before it starts
(concerns mounting that Congress won’t fund this)

as well as friendly fire killings in Afghanistan
Miami Herald tells us abut the aftermath of the grounded flights of Haitian refugees in Florida

while Florida Times Union has bad news for DADT future
It’s unclear how Congress will react, but some members of Florida’s delegation — both Republican and Democrat — say they’ll lean heavily on what commanders want.(which is: “don’t make changes”"time of war”)

But I bet you knew that, from that other headline.

NYS:begging for the money for the terrorist trials

Yes, and PA Gov. Ed Rendell has his hand up. Pennsylvania has been taking in other states’ trash for decades. Now the terrorists too? Maybe we could hold the trials at the memorial site in Shanksville since Ground Zero is out of the question.

I nominate the Federal Court in Alaska #1 and the Mojave Desert #2. If Alaska, trial should be during the winter; if Mojave, during the summer. This will throttle press coverage (no way those guys are going to hang out in those spots), avoid tourists and generally ratchet down the hype factor.

Prayer power. Whatever. I’m an atheist, but I say to each his own. Too bad the feeling isn’t mutual.
Its outrageous. No one’s civil rights should be subject to a vote, or the whim of public opinion, and the ‘fierce defender’ should be out there twisting arms. Don’t hold your breath.
Another obnoxious religious twit:
Is Pam Tebow A Liar? Abortions were illegal in the Philappines when her doctor supposedly urged her to get one.
Pretty interesting, don’t you think? An entire media mythology has grown up around the noble missionary who carried her child to term against a doctor’s advice, and the child grows up to become a devout Christian and football star.

Re: DADT – the fierce defender used the topic fto score points in SOTU and is now hands off. Just like FOCA.

I’ve never been real big on talking to the invisible man in the sky, but do you think if we pray real hard 0bama might become a real Demacrat.

Hey, about the news going local being a good thing, did you know that most people get their news from local newspapers ?

I didn’t, and it actually surprised me that it isn’t neither from tv or radio, nor from NYT or WaPo. But I guess we are all aware that it isn’t from blogs … not just yet!
