Or as my kid used to say way back: Halloween already?

Check the Critterati gallery at the New Yorker – and especially my favorite page in it with the best of all dogs: Boongo as the Invisible Man

For me, the festivities begin this evening….. and run through the coming week.
On top of the fact that I am job hunting and still managing pet adoptions….
Busy, busy, busy…. cackle, cackle…..

I’m still deciding whether or not to pick up some candy…just in case. It’s such a waste, for the past 3 years not a single kid’s come to the door so I ended up having to throw bags & bags of it away.
Its sad, but understandable. If my kids were still young, I don’t know if I’d let them go door to door now either.

Buy candy you like to eat yourself. Always a good call….
Last year, I made the mistake of buying Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Three Musketeers. When the kids came, I tried giving them cigarettes instead (stupid for a person who lives in an apartment building, but at that point, those candies were MINE!!).
After a few complaints from parents, I just stopped answering the door and left a Jack-o-Lantern full of candy in the hallway. When it was empty, the party was over.

I don’t think there’s a candy in existence that I don’t like~~except for licorice.
Believe me, when it comes to sweets I’m worse than a baby, & my only defense is to keep it completely out of my sight.

Oh, and I buy candy I don’t like, leftovers go to the foodbank. Ok, not healthy, but poor kids like treats too
Happy Halloween !
