The Widdershins has a great post about who is NOT a B0bot and how this should influence our attitude. I pretty much agree that we need to look for a common ground rather than needless “I told you so”s.
Recently, a gardener in my community garden who until recent was giving me the Obama News (“Did you watch the Greek Orthodox priest who compared him to Alexander the Great?”) told us “I am starting to agree with you on Obama” (we had told him of war, FISA & torture). We simply smiled and said nothing – to my knowledge, this guy was simply a fan.
Now, from a true Bobot who was bombarding my e-mail with trash throughout the year on behalf of Citizens for Legitimate Government is editorializing her torture article clip like this
*Mollycoddle your torturers: **Obama Urges C.I.A. Not to Be Discouraged by
Torture Memos
and then adds at the end of the quote
“Dont be discouraged by whats happened in the last few
weeks,” the president said. “Dont be discouraged that we have to
acknowledge potentially *we’ve made some mistakes*. Thats how we
learn.” [*Yeah,
and the only *bigger* mistake we made was allowing Obama to trick us into
voting for him.*]
Now, this one I took less kindly. Sure the media tricked a lot of the unsuspecting into believing this was someone worthy. But this particular B0bot was scouring the internet for alternate media and complete materials since 2001. Anyone who knew the truth about the 2000 election and kept informed since has no standing to claim they were “tricked”
Manipulated, maybe. But not tricked. And they used the Clinton hatred the right wing fostered to manipulate more. “They all hate her” was the excuse.
It’s funny to take B0′s (the 2 legged) defense, but he left plenty of clues to who he was.
His first speech in the senate (real, not mythical) was almost identical with the torture statement – only it had to do with the…Iraq war – “future, not past, who cares how we got there, etc”. The Reagan worship, the “Blackwater got a bad rap” remark, the FISA vote – all pretty big clues. But you got tricked anyway. All righty then.
for the commentary section:

Update
My mail updates from the aforementioned B0bot stopped coming in my mailbox. Yeay! – and who knew I had the audience?

Ooooh, you caught me in the cartoon. I don’t want to clean my house, I just want to stop feeling badly about how messy it is!
As for Bobots. Saying nothing and letting it sink in (however painfully) is my choice . It’s too late now to choose the vital candidate who wanted the best for us and our country.
I am also of the opinion that the state of affairs in our country right now will only give us facades like Bush and Obama. I’m for election reform as one way to make a difference. http://www.publicampaign.org/

I am with you on public campaigning as well. Pessimistically so.
This last election proved once again that elections are decided by the big money – from the pick of the candidate to the counting of the votes. Not sure if this can change, but I’ll go for it anyway.
And yeah, saying nothing and letting it sink in is my attitude as well.

Mrs. Bucket
and we need to reform it as I undertstand it is in Britain. Where the parties can not use TV advertising.
It might help a little.
Oh yeah and limit the time the TV media can show a candidate – like 3 minutes for the entire year! LOL

I plan to remain mum as well. And to work for change at the level of the primaries.
Which “primaries?” I can’t yet say.
If I get an O-bot apologist, I may toss him or her a band-aid with which to nurse disappointment… before I ride off into battle…

So far I’m in the majority about Obots seeing the light. Not only do I tell them “I told you so,” I remind them that Obama made the argument that blowing off his public financing commitment by saying that his unknown personal contributions amounted to him receiving public financing had pretty much set back that argument for decades. Then I remind them about the end of democracy on 05-31-08. Then I tell them try to get ANY politician to listen to you now. Then I laugh at them. Then I walk away!

Sorry, typo — that was I’m in the MINORITY.
And while I may seem unforgiving, it is very difficult for me to show sympathy to people who sacrificed Democracy for their own feelings about Obama being the hope savior.
The old adage is you can’t be tricked unless you want to in the first place. The tricksters always play on something YOU want to get out “the deal.”

My favorite line to Obots who show regret is to say “Sure HOPE you didn’t vote for him!”

I’d love to find a bumper sticker that says:
“Got Hope, Now?”

I still have the photo of the T-shirt his campaign was selling: “Dude, where’s the hope?”
