I have been listening to crickets on the torture memos fallout and was startled by this Politico headline
Story behind the story: The left erupts
Wow! I told myself – I was wrong. I’ll now find out B0bots do care about basic human decency and will urge Obama to demand full disclosure and responsibility.
But as I read, the aforementioned “left” is composed of two people who criticized Mike Allen’s article at Politico: Glenn Greenwald and, don’t laugh – Andrew Sullivan who called Allen “Bush Mouthpiece.”
Oh, the humanity!
The most interesting aspect of this high school spat to me is to see Politico’s – Obana’s #1 cheerleader – use of the word “left” as a pejorative. It’s not surprising really, just, well – revealing.
Another turnaround takes place in the field of gay rights.
First we have the stalling of “Don’t ask don’t tell” from the Obama administration/W holdover Robert Gates
NEWPORT, R.I.–Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates made clear on Thursday that any repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law would have to be undertaken slowly, and suggested that it might not happen at all.
Where’s my list of broken promises?
Elsewhere, gay marriage gains traction. New York may be the next state legislating it – and yes, it’s the not-Caroline Senator that shifted the momentum.
More surprisingly though there are stirrings in the GOP.
We have Steve Schmidt, McCain’s campaign manager who made this speech in front of Log Cabin Republicans
“There is a sound conservative argument to be made for same-sex marriage,” Schmidt, who was McCain’s campaign manager, told the group. “I believe conservatives, more than liberals, insist that rights come with responsibilities. No other exercise of one’s liberty comes with greater responsibilities than marriage. In a marriage, two people are completely responsible to and for each other.”
and before that there was Megan McCain
I believe the Republican Party has, at this moment, the opportunity to come forward and play an instrumental role in securing gay rights. That’s why I’m speaking at the Log Cabin convention and couldn’t be prouder to be doing so. And yes, I’m still a Republican. Get used to it.
Wow! It almost makes you wonder how gays rights would have fared had the election turned out different and McCain won…
One thing is clear – the ideas – right or wrong, and the activism (astroturfed or not) lies squarely on the right these days. The left is contemplating its navel – when not protecting Michelle’s garden from Michelle – of course. One knows one has attained the pinacle of lameness when Andrew Sullivan gets to be one’s poster child.

Edge, I’ve been screaming as loud as I can since before the election that Obama would do nothing for civil rights for gays. I would say the very same thing, that the DADT repeal won’t happen at all, in the comments of online gay mags like the advocate, and predictably I was just called racist, among other names.
And I couldn’t agree more that we would have had a bigger ally for our community in Mccain/Palin than with the homophobe in chief we have now. Joe Solomonese, the head of HRC needs to be run out of town on a rail for spending so much time and energy getting gays and lesbians to support this jerk. Thanks for the update.

Meanwhile… decidedly gay PUMA bloggers “HILLBUZZ” are meeting with Michael Steele:

A change is in the air, allright. It began when Obama’s followers turned out to push California into the anti-gay category with prop H8, and when Obama invited a known gay basher to give the invocation at his inaugural.
If the GOP can sustain this traction… they will be going places when it comes to basic human rights and dignity.

You said it Stray Yellar Dog, and garychapelhill!
Obama is acting just as typical closet cases do (a closet Repubican, Obama?).
On Chicago’s Gay Pride Day, he made sure he was in Chicago and made sure he was just wasting his time – playing softball with the guys, and getting his hair cut – just so he sent a clear message to homophobes that they should vote for him.
…….cause he’d lived in Chicago 20 some years and never done a thing for Gay Pride, he sure wasn’t going to do anything in election year to hurt the Precious one’s chance!
Such a contrast to Hillary and the McCains!

lol
“The left is contemplating its navel – when not protecting Michelle’s garden from Michelle,” – and ordering “their” women to go fetch coffee and to shut up too!

Staying true to Human Rights and that Civil Rights are for everyone is some thing that was very important to me and couldn’t and wouldn’t fall in line, as I don’t believe we can compromise on these issues.
I am glad to see that others are finally taking a good look and seeing that we were not the racists were were made out to be, which still upsets me till this day.
