The New York Post continues to wage the war against Paterson (see Bloomberg, Caroline Kennedy history)

while Metro demonstrates that yesterday’s slight of hand to make the Auto industry the guilty parties for the financial mess wasn’t a total sell.

Got a better idea here.
Don’t let them fail.
They’re needed for our defense industry!
Oh, so sorry. Plutocrats don’t care to defend us anymore. They can’t steal enough money from us any more. China and Russia watch out! You’re ripe for Plunder! Er…..excuse me, you’re ripe for “financial capitalism” (otherwise known as fat cat capitalist cronyism).
LOL

Sorry to disagree, Mrs. B, but I think it’s time to let them fail. There will still be automakers (Ford is doing ok without the trough-fest), and perhaps if we let the UAW sink the Detroit crew could start making a profit again. Sorry defenders of auto workers – every one else in America has to kick in; you do, too. You haven’t earned a guarantee to lifetime stability any more than the pirates in charge of the Wall St. firms.
Nearly every person I know just lost at least half of their life savings/retirement; what makes you so special that you don’t have to share in the pain?

Grail Guardian, you’re kidding, right? The Detroit area and Michigan have been feeling the pain for an awfully long time. Those “excessive” wages so-called liberals revile support other businesses. When autoworkers are reduced to the absolute wage slavery you wish, a lot of other people will be out of work.
But, hey, instead of pushing for every worker’s right to a decent wage and security of the contractual obligations they relied on, far better to kick the last group who managed to somewhat successfully hold out for a middle class life for working people.
I forget, even in liberal land, some contracts, like those for AIG bonuses, are more sacred than others.
