Woman Voter
Oh, how I wish the worker Bee would be signing it, after working decades in the Party. Maybe ONE DAY the Democrats will do what they say and actually support the most qualified candidate that just happens to be a woman. I may well be dead, when we finally get a female POTUS.
Hillary R. Clinton was the best candidate that just happened to be a woman. Her work speaks volumes for me and other women across the globe.

I’m glad to see Obama at least allowed HRC to be present at the signing. It wouldn’t have surprised me if he’d sent her off to some 3rd world country to do scut work for him during the big event. Oh, wait – that’s Howard Dean’s job.

This is long overdue, but I’m not sure it’s going to make much of a difference. As a society we need to start raising our daughters to ASK for what they want rather than politely waiting for someone to notice them.

With 54% of the voting population, its nobody’s fault that they are now signing to us what should have been a right from get go. We simply need to believe in our own selves and rightful position and go out and fight for fair treatment. Somehow I find it hard to feel jubilant even though I am happy its now law. About time.
Nice pic of Hillary BTW.

Great picture.
Legislation, like his birth, can be done through immaculate conception.

Urbzen,
You are soooooooooooo right! We train our daughters to do their best and wait silently until someone notices and rewards them for it, and we train our sons to grab whatever they can get, regardlee of whether or not they’ve earned it. It all starts at home.
Gary,
I sort of figured he was cranky because he had to sign the bill and admit Hillary did something better than him.

Urbzen, I agree with one exception. It’s time for women to DEMAND, not wait, not ask. Women are the majority of the population, and yet are still being treated on a sliding scale. At one end is chattal, something owned by another, at the other end, something that is patted on the head and tolerated, but carefully controlled and contained. And some of the worst enablers are ‘women’. When will it end?

When we end it.

Grail, I’m over a half century. I’ve waited for equality my entire life. I and others like me have been trying darned hard to make it end. I’ve got to the point where I wouldn’t care anymore because women are their own worst enemy, yet I broke my promise never to have kidlets and became an olde preggie. She’s 22 now, and I want the best in all the world for her….no she’s not one of those spoiled give it to me because I exist type younguns, although she still lives with me, and she is fully aware of the nature of government towards women, yet after all the years of living with me – single, sole support mommie, she still falls into the trap. When will it end? If the indoctrination continues, and overshadows what even the most vigilant of parent(s), then how do we stop it?
It galls me, but misogny is big bucks – it pays dividends. Money for the ad industry and all the others it supports (newspapers, TV etc), the movie industry, for the religion industry and ultimately for the political industry cause they get the money from the other industries. I’m not sure I have any “hope” left….just anger and dismay.

PS, that doesn’t mean I’m quitting. Just that I’m tired tonight. Tomorrow is another day.

HT,
You are right on the money in your comments, please don’t think I disagree even slightly. But the current treatment of women by our society will not end until all women band together as sisters and demand it stop. it needs to be more important to all of us than getting a man, looking hot, fitting in, being popular, making it into the [fill in the blank: team, sorority, club, clique, etc.], making things nicer for our children, having the perfect home/family, a career, or any other thing.
As you have learned the hard way, some of us cannot do it alone. Every woman must participate, and that I fear will not happen in my lifetime.
But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop trying!
