Lincoln-y enough for you? – playing dress-up

Asks Jack Tapper in an entry about more make believe in the “who am I going to be today” department.

We remember his getting the “torch” from never-had-it Ted Kennedy (when the media allowed the guy show his face in public with no mention of Chappaquidick, I knew something was in the works).

And then it was the MLK inpersonation – mostly by setting the date of the speech in the Roman temple. That was also significant, as it was planned by the DNC months before any vote was cast.

before all those however it was the second coming of Reagan which to me was the dead give away last January that the production of teflon was going through the roof again.

The Lincoln fantasy is not new, it’s where Obama finds his…humility

“There is a wisdom there,” Obama told interviewer Steve Kroft, “and a humility about his approach to government

Oh yeas , the humility – the word W made famous (”one hs to be humble in foreign policy…”). It goes now to inspire Obama in playing house

The luncheon that will be served in Congress’s Statuary Hall to the president-elect and vice president-elect and their families — as well as congressional leaders, justices of the Supreme Court and pending members of the Obama Cabinet — will be modeled after foods that Lincoln ate and enjoyed.

The first course will even be served on replicas of the china picked out by then-first lady Mary Todd Lincoln at the beginning of her husband’s term in office.

How quaint. Somehow it sends me to images of W in the mirror playing with Saddam’s revolver….

And Jr.jr will go even further in his new impersonation exercise

On the Saturday before his inauguration, Mr. Obama will also travel by train to Washington, D.C., starting in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia, where that other lanky Illinoisan spoke while traveling from Springfield, Ill., in 1861

Ask bewildered citizens

BO is so desperately trying to attach himself to someone’s coattails who actually DID something in their life (other than run for office) he’s becoming a bit unhinged about it, in my opinion. I mean, come ON! Is he going to use period toilet paper (corn cobs) in the presidential loo as well?

I don’t know. But I can’t stop but recognizing the very same hands who transformed Jr from the “My pet Goat” reader to the Churchill/Caesar/Napoleon/Lincoln rolled into one – days after 9.11 – after having him read a speech.

Same invisible hands, same bullhorns, same money, same methods…I mean, how many ways are there of filling an empty suit?

And let’s face it, if they managed to make Jr look competent to some – at least for a while after the major blunder on 9.11, they’ll manage – at least for a while to sell “Honest Barack” as the bidding for his senate seat and other cesspool corrupt politics from his past are spilling over the nation.

Update

here they are feeding the make believe already

  • There is a scholar coming to give a talk at my university on Obama as Lincoln. On my birthday! Make me gag. The only things he has in common with Lincoln besides being elected from Illinois is that Obama also does not believe in full equality for the oppressed minority he promised to “free” and he’s a Republican. He is a Republican, right, b/c no Democrat would do what he’s doing…

  • Can Obama be so arrogant, so hypocritical and so Republican that he will make us nostalgic for Dubya?

    Yes, he can!

  • It continues to amaze me that the very same people who ridiculed W’s “package” in the flight suit after he landed on that aircraft carrier parked hundreds of feet off the California coastline think Obama playing dress-up is hip and just oh so cool. God save us from the educated idiots.

  • Obama is BUSH III and he never worked to pass legislation (the legislation was turned over upon orders to make him look good) and he never was a party worker. Funny but the ‘party’ is still claiming they want to take back the country, maybe its from him.

  • madamab
I think you just stumbled on the master plan…It ends with Jeb on a white horse

  • That’s an ending I can live without. I prefer Sarah Palin on an elk.

  • The world would be a much better place if both Juniors had simply joined the Village People.

  • Another sickening statement was made recently that MicHELLe is going to revitalize the fashion industry with her “Jackie Kennedy” like sense of what to wear. Give me a break. Please keep her out of sight and out of mind.

  • I read where the Inauguration of the ONE is going to set us back about $50M.. The nerve, spending the People’s money when he’s telling us to sacrifice!

read the outrage from John Q Citizen:

  • angrynana,

I guess she’s going to “revitalize” the fashion industry and the comic book industry at the same time with her spider-man dress from election night! I guess that would cover the horror industry also – a three-fer!
Oh wait, don’t forget her grandma’s curtain/couch cover dresses – 4 industries revitalized!!!! Heck, she’ll cure the recession all by herself.

  • Wasn’t Lincoln a Republican? Is there a PEBO subliminal message we’re missing?

Nothing sez Hope and Change like 1861 ;)

The comments in Tapper’s blogpost are hysterical, be sure to read them!

  • just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse..
    it did

  • @DeniseVB
Thanks for the tip. The funniest comments are from the Bobots who still think Teh One will dismantle everything the Bush administration did. yeah, right, that’s why they were financed and propagandized by the same people!
    This one is interesting

Surely Obama’s homage to Lincoln is annoying those who have decided all Republicans are idiots. Lincoln was a Republican, after all.

  • Obama is no Lincoln, although he is a closet Republican (coming out more each day). He’s really Bush #3.

  • If it wasn’t all such an nightmarish outrage it would be hilarious. As it is, it’s a SNL skit with the tumbling Towers in the background. There are not enough words in the English language to describe the horror and the hubris therein.

    Terrific comments above!

  • truthisgold,

Funny, isn’t it? Suddenly the whole world is backwards. Stuff I used to take seriously I now laugh at, and things I used to think were a joke I’m starting to rethink…
