Dean: “Even women” (we’re people too). But wait, there’s more!

Update of August 19

response from McCain camp

Fiorina, a prominent female supporter of McCain, fired back at Dean. “It is disappointing to see Howard Dean trying to use gender and race to divide voters,” Fiorina said Friday evening in a statement released by the McCain campaign. “His comments are insulting, inappropriate and have no place in this election.”

In his latest embarrasing racially charged remark

“”If you look at folks of color, even women, they’re more successful in the Democratic party than they are in the white, uh, excuse me, in the [laughs] Republican party.”

dear chairman reveals his view of women as second class citizens.

Which reminds me of this story:

one of the founders of Real democrats said she had a conversation with Dean (which eventually led to his saying publicly: “the media was sexist, too bad I didn’t have cable” During that conversation Howie told her: I know women are 58% of the party and I told Obama they will be trouble”

And for consistency, Obama reveals new ways of getting even with women

If the second earner, who in many cases is the woman, is going to have to give 54% of what she earns to the government, she might as well stay home with the children. Mr. Obama may be able to get away with symbolic slights to women, such as not picking Senator Clinton as vice president. But punishing them with confiscatory taxes for participating in the workforce at a high income level moves the slight into the realm of substance.

Geez, I would have never expected this!

But then didn’t Michelle tell women that making money is overrated?

Nevertheless, Mrs. Obama urged them to foreswear lucrative professions like corporate law or hedge fund management and go into the helping industry, even if the sacrifice is great

Update with Anglachel’s take on this

Like it or not, Howard Dean has just made the claim that if you are white, you are A) racist and B) Republican, your actual acts and deeds in this world not withstanding. The only way to be relieved of this taint is to vote Obama. Not even Democrat – you must vote for Obama. If Obama should fail at the polls, then all “white” Americans stand indicted for racism because that is the only way he can fail and the only reason for failing to vote for The Precious is you’re just a racist white Republican at heart.

  • “Even women”, huh???? Wow!!! That just shows you we are just demographics? Oh Dean, wow you are really Uniting this party alright!

  • Ah – at last I now know what that “50-state strategy” is about: his plan is to get people into 50 simultaneous states of rage!

I’m sure Secretary Rice and Gen. Powell might have something to add there, about that “white party” thing. Speaking of Rice: the mind reels when thinking about her hypothetically attempting to fit into the party of some-are-more-equal-than-others, not only being “folk of color” but even a woman.

I don’t know what Dean’s career job is and frankly I don’t care too much, either, but whatever it is I’m not entirely sure I’d trust him to not scr*w that up, also.

  • Even women??? How does his wife stand him?

  • Yes, I remember how irritated I was when I heard that Michelle was asking women to not go into the corporate world. We need more women there.

She have stopped saying that now because I think people did complain, but it does show their true attitude towards women.

  • [...] Not unlike the litmus test for whites not being Republican, or racist [...]
